BATH TIME ON THE SILVER SCREEN

Often in film, the bathroom is a place for vulnerability, whether emotional or physical. We see the bathroom in a fraught or intimate moment between lovers or just before a murder in a horror film. It’s a similarly a place for a sexy main character to show off their body without the feeling that they are showing it off. IKEBANA AND ITS ITERATIONS IN WESTERN CONTEMPORARY ART

"Evans transformed the garden into a type of stage set with a mise en scène of various installations. Pine trees, floor to ceiling pillars of lights, automated crystal glass flutes, and neon text relating to the Japanese translation of Marcel Proust’s In Search of Lost Time paid homage to what we don’t necessarily see with our eyes and the ‘texture’ of time itself. The deeply phenomenological invocation of the invisible recalls the way in which ikebana arrangements stand as a referent for deep-seated feeling and the conflation of space and time.⁠.."

NAUM HOUSE PRESENTS THE FLOWER ROOM: An Ikebana Workshop

To mark the occasion of our new website, we invited friends to an ikebana workshop. Everyone made their own arrangement using our Niwaki tools and Troy Town ikebana bowls.

Despite everyone having access to the same species of branches and flowers, and the same tools, each arrangement came out completely unique. As our ikebana master Shoko says, “Each ikebana arrangement reflects the maker in that particular moment of their life.”⁠
